Play Tebow or Trade Tebow - Why Waste the Talent?

Play Tebow, or Trade Tebow - Why Waste the Talent?

Last season the Broncos completely wasted the talent they had in Tom Brandstater. They had the guy sitting on the bench for the entire season, then they traded him.  With the dismal season they had I wonder why they did that, but oh well.
This year they have Tim Tebow and the situation is even worse. The potential for wasted talent is even more prolific and obvious. Why did we allow John Elway to play back when he was a rookie, and we will not allow talented rookies to play now?

Right now is the optimum time to trade Tebow so he can have a chance to play in the NFL. Other teams with very mediocre QBs need a Tebow, and they will pay for him, guaranteed.  So, let's trade him rather than using him as a cheerleader.

Just my humble thoughts on the matter. Oh, why not get yourself a Tebow jersey before they trade him, and it will be a valuable collector's item. Imagine, trading on ebay with a Tebow/Bronco jersey when he is playing for Tampa Bay. Har Har.

Now you can read this other guy's comments on trading Tebow Here.

Knowshon Moreno is out for Sunday - Not Good News

Can't do anything to change it, but certainly having RB Moreno out of the game on Sunday makes it a much more challenging proposition when imagining winning.   However, pro football is not like science or mathematics.  It is unpredictable and it is human, and the remaining players will step up and play like there is no tomorrow.  No one really "knows" the outcome, regardless of what the sports betting experts may say.  The long odds may be on Denver but emotionally speaking, anything is possible.

Here is the damage report released today by the Denver Broncos and HealthOne for both teams:

Can Broncos defeat the Colts with Manning at the Helm?

Manning is hot when he gets to the RED ZONE. He makes few mistakes, and usually scores when he gets there.  Last week, our Broncos were hot too, so if and only if they can score when they get in the RED ZONE, can they hope to win the upcoming game with the Indianapolis Colts.

Also, my basic theory of this is that if the Broncos can avoid any turnovers in the game, and maybe force at least one from the Colts, always score in the Red Zone, and hold them to under 150 yards of offense, then they have a prayer of winning the game.  Otherwise, the Colts will snatch the victory every time.

In past years, Manning has won 7 and lost 2 against the Broncos. He has completed about 60% of all his passes too, and put up 2,165 yards of offense - he is a nightmare for this team.  Now, this is a new team altogether this year for the most part, minus Elvis Dumervil.  I sure wish Dumervil was here for this game. The team could use him to throw off Manning and change his timing.

Larry Coyer is the Colts defensive boss, but he used to be with Denver back in 2006. He likes to win, and he does win.  Read about Larry Coyer Here.

Manning has an overall all time passers rating of 107.6 against Denver, which is almost too crazy good and bodes not well for us.  However, in the past we have seen wins against this team and we can see it again if the Defense will make the effort to get to Manning.  One big key is to take him off his timing.  Someone has to get to him fast on each and every play, forcing him to throw early or intentionally fall on the ball.

Manning is calling plays at a fast pace on the field, with little to no time for running in replacement defensive players.  Martindale has to get his guys on and keep them on or Manning just speeds up the pace of the game, which further makes it difficult.  He is the only 4 time MVP in NFL history, and he intends to had Denver the loss on Sunday.  I hope our team is ready for this and can play a good game against one of the best teams in the NFL.

I am not saying we cannot win, just that it is stacked against us on this one.  Either way, it will be the toughest challenge the Broncos have in the first 10 games.  I am on their side and hope they can pull it off. I would love to see Manning hanging his head at the end of the game!

Just a word about Kenny McKinley

I am saddened by the news today about the untimely death of WR Kenny McKinley. The Bronco family, as well as Kenny's family, will be in our prayers here at my house for the coming days. The team certainly has had more than it's fair share of tragedies and death in recent times.

Please pray for Kenny's family and the Bronco family folks. Sometimes that is the best thing many of us can do.

Congratulations Broncos - Big Win on the Right Day

There were 2 big things that happened today. First was the amazing and almost flawless performance of Kyle Orton and the Denver Broncos in beating the Seattle Seahawks by the score of 31 to 14. Seattle turned the ball over a few times, while the Broncos did not turn the ball over. It was a really great game and all the players on the Broncos did a great job.

The other very big thing that happened today was some kind of injury to Champ Bailey. He was seen using crutches after the game. Something about an ankle or something. Bailey commented that he did not think it was anything serious. Good grief man, he was a key player all day long, including an interception that foiled a red zone scoring play the Seahawks were running.

Everyone is happy in Denver tonight, and in Seattle the discomfort is only minor, as ours was last week. Josh McDaniels is very well pleased, but not bragging about it. The team with all it's broken and strained parts is dwindling. How may injuries can it sustain? How many loose players can Bowlen afford to hire?

Anyway, a big congratulations to the Broncos today. This was a big win - W

End Zone Penalties Cost Seahawks Big Time

Wow, the first half is amazing and I am impressed with the Broncos. Holding Seattle away from a big score in the red zone, not allowing the score, and finally having Champ Bailey intercept the pass and take the ball away. Now at the half Broncos are at 17, Seahawks are at ZERO. Totally great play with very few mistakes on our side, plenty of turnovers on the Seahawks side.

Orton is executing at a high level and seems very comfortable leading the team to both good yardage, and conversions. There seems to be no angst this year from the team, and of course I am counting game one here too. They did not lose that one by much.

So far so good here at Mile High Stadium, and the seats we have this week are terrific in section 322. A whole lot of the first half action was on our end. Good job Broncos. Nice start, and we fully expect a 2nd half that is just as good. Elevates the mood for sure!

Cool Denver Bronco Hats for the Game

We all need our Bronco hats don't we? After all, are we fans or are we not? In recent times, it is always the decision each fan must make, even though we have been tested and strained by the Bronco ownership and management to the N'th Degree.

Here are the Denver Bronco Hats

Hoodies keep us warm at the games, so even though we may have our fan specific hats, we need to cover up when the cold air arrives (flask not included).

Here are the Denver Bronco Hoodies

As we approach the weekend, and the upcoming game with Seattle, we need to keep in mind the quality of Perseverance. Stay the course of the fan, and have faith in the players to make up where others fall short. It reminds me of the old 1977 song: Make Those Miracles Happen

Seattle at Denver on Sunday for Bronco's Home Opener

Sunday's game is hard to figure at this point, but I do know the Broncos will be trying to execute perfectly and Orton will be looking for the first win at home. Since it is the home opener I believe they will come through against Seattle, but it will not be easy.

Champ Bailey will do his part as usual covering Williams (WR) on the right, while Hasselbeck will hit a good percentage of his passes. He went 16 of 20 last week. Not stellar but they did win the game, and they will come in with confidence.

Having the fans at home is definitely an advantage however, and that crowd noise will be a distraction for Seattle as it always is. Denver will get some turnovers in the first half while the Seattle team gets settled in.

Last week Hasselbeck threw an interception on the first play. Don't expect a repeat. Both QBs will be nose to the grindstone and careful as all get out, not wanting to get picked off. If the offensive line can give Orton the extra 2 seconds he needs to get set, he will find his receivers.

Offense must give Orton time to find the receivers and Defense has to hold Seattle to under 100 yards of offense to win. I predict Denver 24 Seattle 20, but it will be close no matter what - Looking forward to the game.

This year Broncos start with a Loss, but what the Heck?

So what if they started with a loss? Big deal anyway, because last year they started with a win, then 5 more wins and we all thought McDaniels was a genius or something, and we all started taking back the criticisms. Then the curtain began to fall.

This way they have something to prove, and next Sunday they will be at home. In the minds of the players, they MUST win at home. Expect to see more focus and better execution on every play, along with better defense. Besides, so many great players are out of the game, who can make a real assessment of it?

Maybe on Sunday the 19th we will see Tebow?

Sunday's Game with the Jaguars will be Challenging

What else can we say? It will be a challenge, and the team has to be up to the difficulty of stopping Maurice Jones-Drew, their top running back who seems to side step linemen, linebackers and cornerbacks with ease. The Denver defense has to be watching films of this guy and coming up with strategies to move in the right direction to get him.

Success on Sunday is dependent on stopping the run, and holding the Jaguars defense overall to under 100 yards. Heck that will be a challenge since Jones-Drew ran for 97 yards in the Jags season opener last year. He is a ball of fire. You might want some help from the Pres at Gridiron Gold for this one.

Robert Ayers said, "If we can get them into third-and-10, third-and-8, things like that -- that's where they're not as good," Ayers said. "When they get third-and-2, third-and-1, that's when it's tough because they can pound it."

"Every time he touches the ball I'm going to be concerned," McDaniels said. "He's a threat, no matter what he's doing really. If it's a screen (pass), he's a threat when he gets the ball in his hands there. When they release him out of the backfield and then you've got to cover him, that's a problem."

Hey Tim Tebow has Launched a New Website and Twitter

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Tebow is going places many professional athletes have already gone -- to the Internet. Days before he begins his NFL career, Tebow is launching his own personal website and Twitter account.

While visiting take note of his use of scripture in his "About Tim" section which mentiones John 3:16. Very cool stuff and a good example for other young people who will be looking up to him.

He will be at TimTebow.com. Schefter reports that Tebow reserved the right to that name when he was a sophomore in high school. However, in the past few years, there have been several social media profiles and sites claiming to be Tebow’s.

Schefter reports that Tebow’s brother, Robbie, confirmed that the site and Twitter account are real and the website will feature a sneak preview of an upcoming documentary that will be released on Tebow.

In addition to entering the thrilling world of websites and Twitter, Tebow has his hands full. He is vying to be the No. 2 quarterback in Denver. Denver coach Josh McDaniels said this week he hasn’t decided whether Tebow or
Brady Quinn will be the backup Sunday when Denver opens the season in Jacksonville, which, by the way, is Tebow’s hometown.

Tebow's Twitter updates might be of value to those in the sports media, as he might release news from there at times.
Many of my friends on Twitter and Facebook have already linked in on the social media he is creating.

Dumervil will sit this season out on injured reserve

I cannot imagine it was at all fun to place Elvis on IR for the season, taking him off the active roster. However, there is little other choice at this time. Even if he has a remarkable recovery, jumping back in too soon could permanently end his football career, so the Broncos have made the right decision for next year.

Backup running back LenDale White ripped his achilles tendon last Thursday in the game with Minnesota, so he is likely out for the season as well. He and Elvis can watch the games from the comfort of the rehab center together I guess. Love to see that scene.

Linebacker Johnny Williams signed up late, and then proceeded to get his nose busted. Chris Baker, a 2nd year nose tackle was unable to stay healthy and cannot pass the physical at this point. Lots of bad fortune this year, and there are plenty more too.

Wake Forest standout player Alphonzo Smith got traded yesterday to Detroit in exchange for Dan Gronkowski, tight end player. He only got into 2 games last year and only got one reception for a 4 yard gainer.

So what else is new? Brandon Stokley has been placed on injured reserve just like Dumervil, but in his case I have heard he will eventually be released afterwards. Here is a partial list of cuts from Saturday:

LB Kevin Alexander
TE Marquez Branson
WR Britt Davis
TE Riar Geer
DL Jarvis Green
S Kyle McCarthy
OL Seth Olsen
LB Darrell Reid
DL Jeff Stehle
LB Worrell Williams

Sure do hope there will be some players left who can put together a good game coming up next week. Each week during the season there will be a player or 2 coming back, since some of the injuries are rather minor, while others result in great losses to the Broncos.
