Making Those Miracles "Unhappen" Gradually,
What can we say at this point about the Denver Broncos? How do we, the fans, analyze and understand how this season turned out?
First of all, the game on Sunday didn't matter after all because the other teams that needed to lose if we won, did not lose. So, even if the Broncos had won it, they still would not have been in line for the Wild Card.
Still, all of us expected to win, didn't we? Yeah, we did. I have an opinion about this as I sit from afar looking in, and of course I could be wrong about this.
I think somehow the team has become demoralized. If I am correct, it started about week 10 or 12, around in there someplace. I am just guessing here, but somehow I think they got the downs over how they are dealt with by their coach.
Maybe I am all wet here. Don't know, but now there is this story that Tony Sheffler got benched yesterday and was told he had an "attitude problem" or something to that effect (he was told last Wednesday).
Sure he probably does have an attitude. I would have one too after all the disappointing performances and personnel choices, play choices and all that. Wouldn't YOU have one too? Why do you think Sheffler was the bad boy?
Well, according to the Denver Post, he had expressed to the team a bit of frustration to several teammates over the loss to the Eagles the Sunday before, and somehow this talk got back to the headmaster, Josh McDaniels. Guess what happened next?
An assistant coach (unnamed) came to Tony and informed him that he would be warming the bench on Sunday for the game with KC. So us fans can't get into the private management things that McDaniels does, but good grief man, who can blame Tony for having an "ATTITUDE"?
Just a few days ago, it was announced that Brandon Marshall pulled his hamstring. So then I saw McDaniels at a press meet saying something like, "Yeah, lots of guys are hurt and still want to play, and just want to win ..... (paraphrased) .... blah, blah, etc".
Can I be safe in assuming that Brandon Marshall did want to play, but pulled his Hamstring and felt he could not play with that big of an injury? Why on earth would Brandon Marshall be malingering? That is what McDaniels was implying in his comments wasn't it?
Ok, so there it all is, my circumstantial evidence that the team has been having a morale problem for several weeks and I just wonder what kinda stuff has happened that none of us fans ever heard about? Ya Think? Yeah?
Here is the quote from Sheffler: "I'm a competitor and have worked extremely hard this offseason to be able to fight for a chance to make the playoffs," Scheffler said Friday. "Him taking that away doesn't sit very well with me or some of my teammates." Yes Tony, I understand what you are saying, I think anyway.
The key phrase there was " .... doesn't sit well with me or some of my teammates."
Think about all this a bit and wonder who it is that is not allowing guys to think, express and talk about stuff. Man I distinctly remember in years past when Al Wilson was expressing stuff to the team about different things he saw that needed to improve. Did ya ever hear about Al Wilson getting benched for that?
How do I end this rant? Well, think I will go watch my old John Elway videos man!
