Let's Talk about Brandon Marshall and other Bronco Stuff OK?

Brandon Marshall - This young man is totally different than he was just a year ago. His attitude is better, his demeanor is more mature, he speaks now to the press as required and he apparently wants to continue on as a Denver Bronco (oh yeah).

USA Today Reports Broncos WR Brandon Marshall lavished compliments on the Broncos and coach Josh McDaniels on Monday, one day after the coach refused to play him in the team's season-ending loss to the Chiefs.

Now I am confused about something here. Last week when Marshall pulled his hamstring, coach McDaniels was talking at the press conference as though Brandon was choosing not to play, and the he (McDaniels) really wanted him to. Now this story is reporting that McDaniels would not let him play. I wonder which version is correct? Did I just hear it all wrong?

In the USA Today article Brandon stated, "I'm nothing but 100% commitment to the Denver Broncos, to my teammates. I have nothing but great things to say about coach McDaniels, this organization. ... Mr. B (team owner Pat Bowlen) is probably one of the best owners in all of sports. Coach McDaniels ... if it wasn't for him, the growth in me this year wouldn't be there."

You can see from the quote that he is listening to his agent, or to a good teammate who is giving him advice on how to talk to the media. This is an evidence of his maturity that he is learning how to control the mouth thing.

Personally I do hope Brandon stays here, but I am not entirely certain about this 100% thing, are you? I would not be surprised at all to hear of trade talks later in the year, say around March or April. Am I wrong? Time will tell.

In this Gazette Story
says "Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler shared a going-away hug in the locker room that was symbolic and telling. More telling might have been Marshall’s locker, which he completely cleaned out – including the nameplate and the stickers that signified his No. 15, leaving only a small sticker players wore on their helmets earlier this season for breast cancer awareness.

After what transpired the past week, both seem destined to play somewhere else next year. Marshall was called out for the severity of his hamstring injury Friday by Broncos coach Josh McDaniels and was inactive Sunday, and Scheffler was a healthy scratch for Sunday’s game. Both are free agents this offseason."

Tony Sheffler is one I would hate to see leave the team too. He is an excellent play maker and the Broncos need him. I like Kyle Orton as a Bronco of course, but I am not certain he is the guy to be at the helm on this team. What other things might happen? Not sure, but since he did a real good job in the first half, and just had a few problems in the 2nd half he will probably be the guy, but what about other talent like Tom Brandstater?

I tell ya, they never got the milage out of Brandstater that could have been realized. I think if they had started him and groomed him to be the franchise QB, the 2nd half would have looked different, but they might not have won the first 6 while he was learning. With talent like that sitting around the bench I wonder what they are thinking for next season?

So here we are again, Brandon and Josh are best friends again, it's all happy ho ho over at the Broncos again, and there is no controversy at all. Right? Next season everything will be the same and we will again RUN UP THE MIDDLE. Kyle will say and do all the right things, and they will end up 9 and 7 or so, and maybe get in the first round of the playoffs.

In just a few months, we will see what is really happening. Little bits slip out here and there, but I understand everyone is staying quiet now to protect the team overall, and their own bonuses, etc. Both Marshall and Sheffler will be free agents soon.
