Dumervil Reaches Higher In New Broncos Defense

Everyone is singing the praises of the new Broncos at 3 and 0 on the season. Here is a bit from CBS4 Denver:

Vic Lombardi says, "This is not an average sized arm," - "You're looking at 32 inches in length."

Dumervil says he uses the long arms to his benefit when he gets underneath the offensive lineman. His impressive leverage was on display on Sunday in the new 3-4 defense the team is running.

"As a rusher the first thing you want to do is get off the ball, and from there you've got to go with the flow -- whatever the offensive tackle gives you you pretty much take," Dumervil said.

Show host Champ Bailey said Dumervil is showing his versatility. He said the transition from a full-time defensive lineman to a hybrid defensive end-outside linebacker came naturally for Dumervil.

"Now he's the guy that can put his hand on the ground and play defensive end and he's the guy that can stand up and drop back in coverage when he has to," Bailey said. "He dropped back in coverage on Sunday and caused a fumble."

The amazing thing I noticed after game 3 is that Josh McDaniels took his cap off for the press conference !!!!

Up till now I always see him with his ball cap on - significant?

Knowshon Moreno is nominated for the Diet Pepsi Rookie of the Week after his 21-carry, 90-yard, one-touchdown performance on Sunday. His teammate in the backfield, Correll Buckhalter, is nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week after notching his first 100-yard rushing game as a Bronco, finishing with 14 carries for 108 yards.

Moreno is nominated along with Donald Brown of the Indianapolis Colts, Percy Harvin of the Minnesota Vikings, Mark Sanchez of the New York Jets and Matthew Stafford of the Detroit Lions. To vote for Moreno click here.

Buckhalter is up against New Orleans’ Pierre Thomas and Jacksonville’s Maurice Jones-Drew. Buckhalter’s 108 rushing yards marked the second-highest total in the AFC for the week, and the fifth 100-yard rushing game of his career. To vote for Buckhalter click here.
