Will Romo join the Broncos Staff?
This saga gets more interesting all the time. It was no secret that before McDaniels was hired to be the head coach, Bill Romanowski was personally lobbying the ownership to get the job. However, even though he did not get the nod for head coach, there is a story going around that he might be hired to be the team's nutritionist or something like that.
Here is an interesting story at the Bronco Website on this subject:
Broncos May Enlist Help From Romo
Life is never dull in an NFL off season. It’s been 3 weeks since the Broncos last took to a football field. They they have a new coaching staff, possibly a new defensive scheme, and a new outlook on football. Out with the old and in with the new has been the theme lately. However, bringing in the old to help the new is something that Josh McDaniels will need to consider.
Former Bronco, Bill Romanowski, may rejoin the Broncos as a specialist. No, not a tackling specialist, but a nutrition specialist. Romo will be meeting with McDaniels to discuss a new position that caters to the nutritional needs of the Broncos. Romo is involved in the supplement business and is most widely known for his involvement in steroids during his playing days. His “roid rage” incidents injured numerous players, and cost him lots of money.
His life has changed for the better, and I commend him for wanting to help players avoid the situations that he put himself in. Romo wants to stock the locker room with power bars, vitamins, and supplements, as well as customize each player’s workout according to their deficiencies. Bringing in nutritionists is another goal of his, so player’s can have access to the best nutrition plans for their position and body type. I think it would be a very good idea for the Broncos to utilize Romo’s ideas. Had they had a program like this in 2007, Jay Cutler’s diabetes diagnosis probably would’ve come earlier. It makes complete sense to monitor players’ nutrition plans more closely. Food fuels the muscles and mind. Come fourth quarter, would you rather see Brandon Marshall running on fumes of chicken fingers or fumes of pasta and spinach?
